The Elgol dinosaur fossil, discovered on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, is estimated to be around 166 million years old and is considered the most complete partial dinosaur skeleton found in Scotland to date. It is a Middle Jurassic fossil, specifically from the Bajocian-Bathonian faunal stage. The fossil, preserved in fragments, includes parts of the spine, ribs, and hipbones, suggesting it was an ornithopod dinosaur, a herbivorous group.
